What Next Consultancy works with businesses and individuals across the United Kingdom, providing HR consultancy services and business/career development coaching.

The challenge

What Next asked Group Dane to revamp the company’s branding and develop a new website, which is not only highly user-friendly, but also elegant and stylish…with a “wow” factor that reflects the company’s unique offering.

Other main objectives included improving search engine performance, increasing visitor numbers and developing lead generation mechanisms. Management of the company’s digital portfolio, including website, blog and email marketing was also identified as an area for improvement.

In addition to a new outward-facing website, there was a requirement for a secure members’ area, which would allow What Next clients to access premium information, resources and support.

What we did


We developed a bold new brand identity, which would not only provide a distinct and recognisable look and feel, but also act as a vehicle for delivering core marketing messages.

Our design and UX specialists created a highly functional, user-friendly structure that helps to guide users around the site quickly, with minimum effort. A combination of parallax, creative use of background videos, high impact visual imagery and embedded, thought-provoking marketing messages help to supply the wow factor.

Our development team built the site on the Umbraco CMS platform, creating a content editing structure that enables What Next to quickly and easily update content and add pages. The secure members’ area has been developed to allow the client to create and manage members’ access to granular degree, enabling a highly-customised members’ experience.

Traditionally, the What Next website and blog existed separately on different domains. In order to provide an improved user experience, optimise search performance and simplify content management, we developed a fully integrated blogging system.

Our content team developed fresh copy across the whole website, which gets all of the important information across to visitors clearly and concisely while also maximising the search performance of the site. Additionally, strong marketing messages were developed, which seamlessly integrate with the branding and design elements.

We held a photography shoot on location with What Next in order to capture the true essence of the company’s service delivery. The resulting photography is fresh and natural, helping to reinforce the new brand.

As a mechanism to aid lead generation and increase audience exposure to news, features and offers, we integrated a newsletter sign-up element, which is supported by the development of flexible new email marketing templates, helping to support and embed the new brand identity.
